What is a balm cleanser?
For those new to cleansing balms, they are oil-based cleansers that remain solid at room temperature. Most cleansing balms require you to massage into the skin, then remove. There are different ways to remove cleansing balms but generally they will require some form of physical removal, for example using a wet cloth or cotton pad, they will not simply rinse off. Balm cleansers cleanse beautifully, removing all traces of make-up whilst leaving the skin feeling exceptionally smooth, plump and hydrated. They are good for all skin types (even oily) and because they are oil based, they are especially good for those looking for an anti-ageing cleanser.
Why use a balm cleanser?
Cleansing balms treat even the most delicate of complexions and can be very useful for those with very sensitive skin because they are oil based. So if your skin is dry and flaky, or if you find cleansing creams sting or facial soaps dry, using a cleansing balm for the ultimate in skin-soothing comfort. The result? Smooth, clean, hydrated skin! A balm cleanser can be an essential part of your cleanse, tone and moisturise routine. Using a balm cleanser can take a bit of getting used to, however once you do, you will always want to use one to remove the day’s grime and stubborn eye make up without tears.
How should I use a balm cleanser?
To use a cleansing balm, warm the recommended amount in the hands and gently massage into your face. To remove, take a clean face cloth, wet it with hot water, wring out the cloth so that it is just damp and gently polish the balm off your face using small circular motions. Depending on the balm, you may need to repeat this process. If you are using a balm cleanser to remove eye make-up, you may wish to wipe it off with a cotton pad first, then use the warm, damp cloth. The action of the hot cloth gently polishes away any dry flaky skin. We recommend using organic muslin cloths.
