Description

Why use Detoxifying Cleanser?

Using a rich, nourishing cleansing balm like our organic Detoxifying Cleanser will keep your skin silky smooth and well hydrated. Winner of the prestigious Soil Association Award for Best Organic Cleanser and Janey Lee Grace Platinum Awards, our organic Detoxifying Cleanser contains fantastic herbs like burdock, comfrey and yarrow (infused by us in our own laboratories) so it detoxifies as it cleanses. Beautiful organic oils such as coconut, macadamia and sesame penetrate into the deep layers of your skin to help with a variety of skin conditions from dry to oily, irritated to dull. Tired, stressed or dull skin will be a thing of the past!

What is a balm cleanser?

For those new to cleansing balms, they are oil-based cleansers that remain solid at room temperature. Most cleansing balms require you to massage into the skin, then remove. There are different ways to remove cleansing balms but generally they will require some form of physical removal, for example using a wet cloth or cotton pad, they will not simply rinse off.  Balm cleansers cleanse beautifully, removing all traces of make-up whilst leaving the skin feeling exceptionally smooth, plump and hydrated. They are good for all skin types (even oily) and because they are oil based, they are especially good for those looking for an anti-ageing cleanser.

Why use a balm cleanser?

Cleansing balms treat even the most delicate of complexions and can be very useful for those with very sensitive skin because they are oil based. So if your skin is dry and flaky, or if you find cleansing creams sting or facial soaps dry, using a cleansing balm for the ultimate in skin-soothing comfort. The result? Smooth, clean, hydrated skin! A balm cleanser can be an essential part of your cleanse, tone and moisturise routine.  Using a balm cleanser can take a bit of getting used to, however once you do, you will always want to use one to remove the day’s grime and stubborn eye make up without tears.

How should I use a balm cleanser?

To use a cleansing balm, warm the recommended amount in the hands and gently massage into your face. To remove, take a clean face cloth, wet it with hot water, wring out the cloth so that it is just damp and gently polish the balm off your face using small circular motions. Depending on the balm, you may need to repeat this process. If you are using a balm cleanser to remove eye make-up, you may wish to wipe it off with a cotton pad first, then use the warm, damp cloth. The action of the hot cloth gently polishes away any dry flaky skin. We recommend using organic muslin cloths.

Fantastic product, this cleanser!! Using the cloth, it gives my skin such a fine feeling afterwards. I have a rather oily skin, but that is no problem at all. My skin is so soft and moistered. I can’t no longer miss it !! and I love the hole range of your organic products.Congratulations !
    Sorry for my poor english

Thank you for your lovely review; your English is great!

I really enjoyed using this, it removed all my make up but it was a little stubborn to get the eye make up off; I only had eyeliner on so you need to massage it in a little longer, it’s nice to do this as it also gets the blood circulation going and it didn’t sting my eyes either. The scent is lovely for something that’s natural and organic. This 50ml jar will last up to 3 months and the price is competitive with other cleansing balms that are on the market, but this is organic, award winning, cruelty free and natural!

I have used many cleansers over the years – well you would by the age of 60! This is the best so far! When I got the pot I didn’t think it would last long but you only need a small amount as it certainly goes a long way. Not only does it cleanse the face completely with one application but it leaves it feeling refreshed and moisturised. I don’t wear makeup everyday so I only use this cleanser 2/3 times a week but it’s lasted a year. I’ll definitely switch to this cleanser from now on.

It is undoubtedly a good cleanser, but it’s a bit too rich for my acne-prone skin, though I’m 63. I don’t use muslin cloths just large cotton pads and though I use warm water I can’t remove it completely (which triggers break-outs). It also doesn’t completely remove my face make-up (organic CC cream and organic mineral powder foundation), so after using it I have to complete the cleansing with an organic face wash. I don’t use it to remove eye make-up as oily products tend to make my eyes sting. I know it’s full of good organic ingredients, however I now only use it when I’ve put make-up on my face. Despite my using a face wash to complement it, it leaves my face with a slightly greasy feeling and also a lingering oily smell. I guess it is more targeted to use on very dry skin.

Comment from Beyond Organic: Thank you Catherine. I think if you used a hot muslin cloth, it would totally remove the cleanser. You will see other people have commented it is totally gentle for their eyes. It is not just for dry skin and works well on most skins, but obviously not everybody will love it! Our Purifying Cleanser is great for acne-prone skin – have you tried that? It is a foaming cleanser to be used wet, not a balm cleanser like this one.

I’ve used this for over a year. It made an immediate improvement to my sensitive, dry skin and I will never be without it. Previous products had dried and irritated (particularly eye make up removers). This one cleanses, hydrates, soothes and reduces wrinkles. Also removes stubborn eye makeup with little effort. The only eye makeup remover I have found so far that is effective and doesn’t irritate/sting. The tub lasts for ages too. I use wet cotton wipes to remove eye makeup as I’ve found it makes the product go further. I use in conjunction with the soothing toner on my face. My mum is also now a convert for the same reasons as me

By far the best cleanser I’ve ever used. Don’t do without it anymore!

  8. Debbie

I am a total fan of all of this range, and this is the best most gentle cleanser I have found. It is gentle and really effective, removing makeup leaving the skin soft and fresh.

  9. Green Makeup

I find this cleanser extremely effective for removing the make-up. I have dry skin and this winter I was also prone to some sore spots and I have to say this cleanser is really fabulous! My skin is soft and cleansed.

  10. Beautylicious Love

It breaks up ALL my makeup on contact (including heavy eye makeup) and also leaves me skin feeling baby soft, moisturised and cleansed. It definitely goes one step beyond just cleansing.

I have used so many cleansers over the years, including the one claimed to be ‘the best cleanser in the world’ which are removed with a muslin cloth, and this is by far the best.
I love how clean my skin feels after I use it and every trace of makeup is removed.
It doesn’t dry my skin out at all or clog it.
