The Importance of Exfoliating Your Skin
Simply put, exfoliating helps to keep your skin silky soft and smooth by buffing away and removing dead skin cells. Your skin naturally sheds dead skin cells every 30 days or so and when this happens, new skin cells form the top layers of your skin. If those dead cells don’t shed, it can result in dull, dry and flaky patches. It can also affect how well your skincare works as your creams and serums won’t be able to penetrate the skin as deeply.
You can exfoliate your skin by using a chemical or granular exfoliating product or a face friendly exfoliating cloth/brush. Our Organic Gentle Facial Exfoliator is a purely natural exfoliating scrub that leaves skin feeling illuminated from within. The “scrub” element of this product is formulated using tiny apricot kernels which safely slough away at dead skin and promote new skin growth- perfect to help fade pigmentation or acne scarring.
The moisturising properties of the natural oils in this scrub like sesame oil, macadamia and coconut all help to keep your skin hydrated while counteracting any drying effects associated with exfoliating your skin
When exfoliating, it’s important to be gentle on the skin as being too harsh can lead to microtears. Scrubs are best used on damp skin so lather up and exfoliate your skin after cleansing with a gentle cleanser, like our Natural Foaming Cleanser.
Make small, circular motions over the area you want to exfoliate and use medium pressure. Exfoliate the face for 20-30 seconds before rinsing off with warm water. After exfoliating, we recommend applying a nourishing moisturiser like our Rich 24 Hour Moisturiser to keep your skin supple and glowing. We recommend using a scrub 2-3 times a week to avoid over-exfoliating and causing irritation.
